I used a paper based trial in a salon I visited on 17 Apr, Tuesday. It worked well my feedback or recommendations is as follows:
FEEDBACK 1
Work placement must list more than 2 types of placements
FEEDBACK 2
Student does not need to sign New record only assessment
Lis: Jodee what do you mean when you say new record (new contact? or new assessment or ??)?
Response
FEEDBACK 3
Signing off (signature) ---was a good validating point of the assessment, one signature for all tasks was the key, not multiple.
Lis: Jodee when you are saying here all tasks that is eg Greet Client, clarify treatment?
Response
FEEDBACK 4
Assessor name needs to be recorded under their signature, or assessor can just write it next to their signature?
Could this be a drop down of Assessor names? Annelieske
Lis: see question on Lis's Questions on SAL
Response
FEEDBACK 5
Was quick and easy and putting a cross in the completed task box was for that student did not interrupt the flow of assessor/student conversation. (this assessment was simulated and not actual)
Notes: keep it simple and purposeful, too much text and reading (for the assessor) could create a "non flowing" assessment with the student, this can make the student more nervous, and not result in the best outcome for the student.

Good point Jodee.
What is the advantage of using the PDA to replace paper? Ease of use? Downloading data to database allowing multiple reports?
Do these advantages outway disadvantages?
Jodee: Good point. I guess as a Lecturer when I go out and have 5 salons to visit in one day, 5 files vs one PDA is much easier to manage and carry around. Also having to look up salon addresses on the road is much easier on a PDA than files.
I think on returning to the office after a day out , downloading info vs filing and sorting is easier_although others may have different styles of efficiency and organisation. And yes Ease of Use.
Lis: Do you need a separate form to list all the Employers and their addresses, also see other page of what details are needed for the employer.
